Program Description There is much controversy surrounding wolves in the wild. Learn about behaviors and habitat using real monitoring photographs used by local wolf experts. Students will learn facts about wolves and be able to ask questions of the biologist.
Teachers will receive follow-up projects in the form of discussion topics that can be used after the presentation for debate, editorial/opinionated writing and/or short research projects; teaching students to form their own opinions based on facts.
Program Format This program begins with an introduction to the field of wildlife biology.
We then discuss different wildlife habitats and the encroachment of humans on these areas.
Wolves are then discussed and students learn about their behaviors, characteristics and habitat.
Time is allotted for questions and answers.
Objectives Participants will learn facts about wolves and their current status.
They will develop an appreciation for the wildlife habitats around them and learn to recognize human impact.
Personal opinions from the presenter will be kept to a minimum as students will be encouraged to form their own beliefs about wolves.
Teachers will receive follow-up projects in the form of discussion topics that can be used after the presentation for debate, editorial/opinionated writing and/or short research projects; teaching students to form their own opinions based on facts.
