August 2009
Hi, COSI Friend!

Welcome back to a new school year!

COSI spent the late spring and early summer conducting focus groups and having teachers fill out surveys to help us plan our upcoming Experts programs.

We have a better idea now of what teachers want and hope to deliver a really exciting year of programming. The programs will now involve a lot more questions to students from the Experts and a full discussion of the thought challenge during the program.

Questions from students to the Expert will be scattered throughout the show instead of concentrated at the end. We are always open to suggestions, so if you have further ideas for these programs, please email us.

The fabulous teachers that assisted us with our focus groups and surveys were entered to win two free programs. The winners are Dolores McKeever from Academy of Allied Health and Sciences in Neptune, NJ, who won a Surgical Suite: Total Knee program valued at $255, and Taryn Furmato from Hillsborough High School in Hillsborough, NJ, who won an In Depth: Autopsy program valued at $280.

Congratulations to both of these teachers and thanks so much for your help!

Video Visits: Gadget Works & Weather Watch
This is a great time of year to schedule a Video Visit.

You can request these programs when you would like to have them – at least until our schedule fills up. We recommend signing up early!

Video Visits include Gadget Works: Simple Machines (grades 2-6), Gadget Works: Force and Motion (grades 3-6) and Weather Watch (grades 4-7). Weather Watch is getting rave reviews from teachers that have participated in this new show. Students learn about air pressure, fronts and predicting weather while having a great time with hands-on activities that use materials that are shipped to you in advance.

To make a reservation, check our online calendar. Find an open space and then request a ‘show not scheduled.’
