Program Description Learn what a habitat is by exploring the lives and homes of Prairie Dogs. Discover how these animals help to maintain and preserve our great prairie lands. Answer questions such as "Why do they look like they are praying?" and "Why are they called 'dogs' when they don't even look like canines?" Learn about other animals that use the prairie and the importance of preserving these habitats.

Post-program activity provided.
Program Format 1. This program begins with a discussion of habitats and what is needed to be successful.
2. We then define and discuss the term "prairie" and the animals that live there.
3. Prairie dogs are discussed and their importance in preserving prairie lands.
4. Time is allotted for questions and answers.
Objectives Students will learn the 4 elements of a habitat.
They will learn what makes a prairie different than other habitats and what animals can be found there.
Participants will also explore the lives and homes of Prairie Dogs and their role in preserving the prairie.
