Program Description Students will explore why marshes are ecologically important. They will learn how conditions in the marsh change during low and high tides and how animals living there adapt to these changes.
Program Format 1. Students will explore the characteristics of a marsh and develop an understanding of why marshes are ecologically important by looking at a "marsh in a bag".
2. Students will examine some of the "challenges" of living in a tidal marsh and how animals adapt to these challenges. Students will use storyboards and animal cards to create marsh scenes during low and high tides.
3. Students will identify reasons why marshes and other wetlands should be protected.
Objectives 1. Students will learn what a marsh is.
2. Students will explore the animals that live in the marsh and how they adapt to tidal changes.
3. Students will identify the importance of marshes and why these areas should be protected.
