Gr 3-6 Witch Trial: The 1684 Trial of Margaret Mattson

In 1684 Margaret Mattson was accused by her neighbors of being a witch. This program is a re-creation of what would be Pennsylvania's first and only witch trial. There had been many witch hunts in Europe, and many were put to death. As this is the first time anyone has been accused of witchcraft in Pennsylvania, it is a very serious matter for Governor William Penn to consider. The outcome of this trial will affect everyone who lives in the colony. This is an interactive program, with William Penn presiding over the trial. Margaret Mattson should be portrayed by a teacher. Witness testimony is provided by students. All other students serve on the jury.

Point to Point Cost: $100.00
