Program Description | Science and mathematics educator Dr. John F. Svitak brings experience in physics, chemistry, and mathematics as well as effective communication skills together to help your students not only "make the grade," but excel on their state math assessment. Completely customized for your class, this program meets state and national standards while engaging students. Not your typical "test prep" teacher, Dr. Svitak does more than simply go through sample questions; he reviews concepts, asks questions, and helps every student gain deeper understanding of material.
Program Format | 1. Introduction 2. Overview of topics covered on the state test 3. Students answer questions about various concepts to test understanding of the material 4. Material is reviewed, with in-depth focus on areas/questions students had difficulty answering. Rich visuals are used throughout. 5. Interactive activity/questions and answers session
Objectives | The participant will: -feel prepared and ready to take the state test; gain confidence in their knowledge of the material -understand mathematical concepts and be able to make meaningful inferences/apply their knowledge -explore how mathematical knowledge is used on a real-world basis, and the relevance of tested information to their lives -discuss concepts they feel unsure about, and review them if necessary -understand problem-solving skills and how to apply them
