Program Description Statistics show that of the students currently dating, as many as 59% have experienced physical violence and 96% have experienced psychological or emotional abuse. This program will allow students to identify dating abuse, find means to help themselves or friends who may have experienced it, and recognize a caring relationship. This program supports Indiana’s Heather Law which was put into effect on April 12, 2010, requiring schools to identify model dating violence curriculum for use with students.
Program Format 1.We start with a very edited video of ‘Love the Way you Lie’ to help student identify cycle of dating abuse.
2.Students are encouraged to set high expectations for how their relationships should work – including mutual respect and communication.
3.Warning signs of an abusive relationship are examined through use of case histories and video.
4. Methods for getting help if needed for themselves or a friend are listed.
5. Communication tips and strategies for safe dating are presented.
Objectives 1.Identify qualities that are most important in a dating relationship.
2.Identify actions that are caring and supportive.
3.Understand that they can, and should, choose how they will be treated in a dating relationship.
4.Understand that they can, and should, choose how they will treat a dating partner.
5.Define dating abuse and sexual assault.
6.Identify physical and emotional abuse in dating relationships.
7.Describe the serious short-term and long-term consequences of abusive relationships.
8.Recognize the difficulty and fear that a friend in an abusive relationship may have in reaching out for help.
9.Describe a variety of ways to support a friend who is a victim of dating abuse.
10.Describe eight communication skills for resolving conflict.

Program Fee Notes For the UK, fee is 98 British Pounds. Please include a purchase order number when you submit a reservation. Bridging fees will be paid by the customer. Cancellation Policy A full fee will be charged to sites that cancel with less than 24 hours notice. We will not charge for programs cancelled due to natural causes or if there are technical problems that do not allow a connection.
