Program Description Students will observe effects drugs have on the body through the use of plastinated human organs and will experience an eye goggle demonstration that tricks the brain. A nervous system altered by alcohol, tobacco, methamphetamine and marijuana, can make even simple tasks difficult proving that being drug free is healthy.
Program Format 1.A short video shows neuron transmission across the synapse.
2.Alcohol is shown to affect the entire body – two plastinated real livers are shown to compare a healthy liver with a liver showing cirrhosis.
3.The nicotine in tobacco causes heart disease and cancer – actual lungs are shown to give maximum impact to the information given.
4.Marijuana deposits tar in the lungs and causes heat damage to lungs in the same manner as tobacco cigarettes.
5.Methamphetamine is made of many deadly chemicals and when used in by humans cause changes in the brain and mouth which forever changes the user’s life. Pictures show the reality of how meth affects the user.
Objectives 1.State the definition of a drug.
2.Explain how drugs affect the nervous system
3.Identify alcohol content in common alcoholic beverages.
4.Name the physical effects of alcohol on the body..
5.Describe the damaging effects of smoking and marijuana use on the respiratory system.
6.Describe the damaging effects on the body from using chewing tobacco.
7.Identify the mind-altering chemical in marijuana.
8.Name at least three effects of marijuana on the body.
9.Name two physical effects of methamphetamine.

Program Fee Notes For the UK, fee is 98 British Pounds. Please include a purchase order number when you submit a reservation. Bridging fees will be paid by the customer. An invoice will be sent after successful delivery of each program. A 1 ½ % late charge will be added thirty days after the invoice date. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to your confirmed videoconference date to avoid billing. Payment is due in full upon receipt of the invoice. Checks should be made to McMillen Center for Health Education in US Dollars. Non payment will result in the denial of further registration from your organization.
Cancellation Policy A full fee will be charged to sites that cancel with less than 24 hours notice. We will not charge for programs cancelled due to natural causes or if there are technical problems that do not allow a connection.
