Program Description This program will empower students to differentiate between marketing scams and healthy lifestyle choices. Fad diets and the harmful effects of anorexia, bulimia, and obesity will be examined. Interactive activities will provide accurate guidelines for diet and exercise. Come join the fun and learn vital information about fitness for life.
Program Format 1.Students review the food guide pyramid healthy food groups and the major nutrients through a game called Pyramid Power
2.Using a variety of examples and discussion, students learn that all the food groups contribute to good health and diet disorders of all sorts have ramifications for overall health.
3.Students will examine ways to decipher whether a product or statement is a fact or quack.
Objectives 1.Review the food guide pyramid to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy food habits.
2.Define "calorie" and predict the result if calorie intake and calorie use are not balanced.
3.List valid sources of nutrition information (www.mypyramid.com).
4.Define and determine the health risks of anorexia, bulimia, and obesity.
5.List developmentally appropriate physical activities they could engage in for between 30-60 minutes per day.
6.State the effect that inactivity has on strength and endurance.
7.Examine the validity of beneficial claims for health related products.

Program Fee Notes For the UK, fee is 98 British Pounds. Please include a purchase order number when you submit a reservation. Bridging fees will be paid by the customer. An invoice will be sent after successful delivery of each program. A 1 ½ % late charge will be added thirty days after the invoice date. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to your confirmed videoconference date to avoid billing. Payment is due in full upon receipt of the invoice. Checks should be made to McMillen Center for Health Education in US Dollars. Non payment will result in the denial of further registration from your organization.
Cancellation Policy A full fee will be charged to sites that cancel with less than 24 hours notice. We will not charge for programs cancelled due to natural causes or if there are technical problems that do not allow a connection.
