Program Description

Washington was chosen to be the commander-in-chief of the American revolutionary forces in 1775. But even before that he was known as the "hero at the Monongahela" during the French & Indian War when he was a young man. Later,elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses and married Martha Dandridge Cutis, he inherited a farm own by his brother. Find out who the real George Washington is, beyond the wooden teeth and chopping down a cherry tree.
Program Format
This program opens with a reporter from a local news station announcing that he is going to interview General George Washington.The interviewer will ask the genera a series of questions that he will answer.A question and answer period by the class will commence when the interviewer has completed his questions.
Objectives
Learn beyond the legend and the text book about one of the most influential people in American history. Develop a new appreciation of his accomplishments. After the presentation, engage in a discussion about the pros and cons of this famous man's beliefs, his ideas and his legacy.
