What is forensic science and why should criminals beware of bugs, bones and botany? It’s the battle of fact vs. T.V. as you get a closer look at the world of forensic entomology. Students will develop an understanding of how science is applied in the courtroom and used as a forum of scientific debate. Dr. Jason Byrd, a Board Certified Forensic Entomologist at the University of Florida, describes how forensic science is actually conducted, and not how it is portrayed by the popular media. Through his video presentation students will see how a variety of different sciences are linked together to improve methods for the detection and apprehension of criminals. Dr. Byrd is currently a Bureau Chief with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and is the Director of Development for the Maples Center for Forensic Medicine at the University of Florida.Students should prepare questions in advance, based on the information sent to the teacher.

Cancellation Policy
The school has the right to cancel any program the day of the test if a successful connection cannot be made and COSI will refund all but the $25 processing fee. If a school declines the test connection, or reschedules the program or test connection within the two-week period, COSI reserves the right to charge the full dollar amount for the program.

We require ISDN schools to dial into us. However, we can dial out to the schools and reverse line charges if special arrangements are made. We strongly recommend a connection speed of 384 or higher.
