This class begins with a discussion of plate tectonics and the ways that plate movements create/shape coastlines and deep ocean trenches & ridges. This is followed by a description of the undersea volcanoes (seamounts) that hold evidence of the Pacific plate's movement. Earthquakes associated with tectonic activity have shaped both land & lives on the Kenai Peninsula, changing the course of Seward’s history in 1964.
