Program Description | This Distance Learning Program is a part of the education program at the FASNY Museum of Firefighting. This program will help you and your students explore and learn about fire safety. The purpose of this learning program is to instill understanding of fire and burn prevention. With this knowledge your students will have a better understanding of the dangers of fire and a raised awareness about fire safety. | |
Program Format | Join Firefighter Fran as she talks about fire safety and prevention and takes your class through her hazard house, teaches them about when to dial 9-1-1, when to stop, drop and roll and other fire safety and prevention concepts. Firefighter Fran finishes her program, which is filled with sound effects and fun, with a musical puppet show re-enforcing all of the concepts taught. . | |
Objectives | Participants will: Learn the components of fire. Learn about fire safety hazards found in the home. Learn that matches are tools for adults. Learn about emergency situations requiring dialing 9-1-1. Learn stop, drop and roll. Learn the importance of crawling low under smoke. Learn that fire drills should be practiced at home. | |
